You got everything you need you were born on a holiday
Your mother was a shooting star and your father was a Mardi Gras parade
They moved around from pastel coastal town to the world’s tallest cities
And somehow all those country roads, city streets, and cobblestones
brought you here to me
Did it all just start again?
Did history just end?
Will the new year, will the coming year, will next year be as hard?
A wild fire, a ring of tires end to end
From where we been to where we are
We got everything we need and what we don’t have we’ll never miss
What matters is what you think, what you believe
And what you feel when we kiss
Will you do something for me before you go?
Will you say my name and will you sing that line from that one song?
It’s the only line that you know
Will you be thinking of us in some far off city?
Everything single light driving or shining in the night
We’re the city’s silver glow
Did it all just start again?
Did history just end?
Will the new year, will the coming year, will next year be as hard?
A wild fire, a ring of tires end to end
From where we been to where we are
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
Father John Misty is so good to listen to when I want to relax. My cat used to seem to like the music too, and we would both chill and listen to the FJM vinyls I own. This album on bandcamp was a nice FJM treat. Michelle May
